Light And Bright Basement Remodel
All the light and bright spaces are my favorites to decorate, and it’s no different in the basement. By bringing in a lot of natural light and installing great windows, we have an open, airy space perfect for entertaining and bonding with my family! Incredibly the light and bright feel of it all. You’ll notice we have many windows in our basement; this was a must for me. I envisioned spending hours at the kitchen island with natural light shining in. Lots of light came into this space, but privacy was maintained simultaneously!
Modern Farmhouse Basement Flooring
A basement flooring can be the cherry on top of your basement remodeling project. Matching the rest of your home, picking out a style, and selecting from multiple advantages make this task a bit challenging. The floor's design, function, and durability in a space that sees frequent use will make all the difference. Today, I’m sharing how we chose, installed, and finished our Modern Farmhouse Basement Flooring. Basements, in general, aren’t known as the most appealing spaces. The two were a huge contrast and needed to be brought together somehow.
Light And Bright Basement Finishes
The basement is nothing short of a dream. While designing my vision for our light and bright basement, I knew I wanted to pull in fun pops of color. We decided against paneling or staining the exposed brick instead of painting the brick white and keeping it exposed. This space was designed with my love for functionality and simplicity in mind. I have always enjoyed having a home office when working from home, so that is something we incorporated. The office area doesn't feel closed off, making it feel inviting for my brainstorming sessions. Also, it is completely toddler proofed, so it works perfectly for this momma who loves staying upstairs with her girls!
Black And White Tile Basement Floor
This beautiful living space is the perfect place for family and friends to escape. A cozy seating area with a fireplace is the perfect place to relax, while a slate tile bathroom sets the tone for the rest of the room. Bright white walls, sleek black, and white tile, and a water-resistant finish on the concrete floor add modern elements that invite you in. The best part is all of the furniture can be folded away to create a game/recreation room when it isn't needed. This basement floor is perfect for boys or any family that wants to kick back and relax.
Gray Tile Basement Floor
Adding a mirror behind the vanity allows for more light in the room. You will need a light source over this bathroom vanity to make it more functional, even with natural light. Without a mirror over the top, your lighting goes up into the ceiling instead of towards the user. Have a professional electrician do the work to install this mirror properly since it may require rewiring part of your plumbing installation. It also adds a durable barrier against moisture and foot traffic, making it ideal for homes with children and homeowners who love to entertain.
Inexpensive Wood Floor
A friend of mine who has pros for the most expensive type of cabinets (I don’t) told me that he found a way to put in inexpensive hardwood floors, 1x4s with plywood on the bottom. After eight years of wear and tear, his kitchen floor was looking not so good, so he had all new cabinets installed, but they left his oak floors alone. He also added vinyl plank flooring over the old oak floors in one bedroom (that one looked great). I would never have imagined this could work where kitchen tile and ceramic flooring could not be in my entryway. So, I decided to make a test wedged between two rooms at the front door that did not lead anywhere else.
How to Acid Stain a Concrete Floor
Acid-staining concrete is a process that deepens the color of a concrete floor and improves its texture. It's ideal for slabs and can also be used for garage floors, patios, and basement floors. Acid stain doesn't seal concrete as a solid or acrylic sealer, but it can be sealed with sealers made especially for acid-stained concrete. It's important to sweep or vacuum the area to remove loose dirt and debris. Next, use a mop and a water mixture, and a neutral concrete cleaner. The process of preparing the surface will help dissolve stains, leaving the concrete looking fresh and clean.
Vinyl Floor Stickers
The main source of eye candy in our kitchen has to be the floor. I’m not talking about the rug, the countertop, or even the cabinets but rather my attention-grabbing floor stickers that friends and family constantly compliment – but rarely see. This entire room makeover was done on a shoestring budget. The floor stickers should have been placed towards the end of this project. Despite installing them, I’m still more than happy with how they look. As you plan your budget rooms, my advice is to make sure that “the big stuff” is tied up before trying to decorate with something so small.
DIY Faux Wood Flooring Using Brown Paper
This DIY faux wood flooring is so easy that you can do this in a day! The flooring is made up of a brown paper bag and paint. The brown paper bag is cut, folded, heated, and glued together to create the flooring, which is laid on top of the existing flooring. It results in a beautiful textured feeling with an aged look. There are just as many wood patterns out there as there are real wood floors - there's no need to settle for one style over another! Turn your plain space into a cozy room with some shine in no time at all with this superb idea!
Luxury Vinyl Plank Lvt Plank Flooring
We were able to get our backyard done in one day! We had them place it under our steps and down the back of the deck. They were fast, efficient, and did a beautiful job. Our master bathroom was a nightmare because it had a weird shape and sloped ceilings, but we could make it work! It has been about a week now, and both rooms look great! It's also easy to clean, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors and textures to match any decor.
Luxury Vinyl Tile
A bleak color palate and dated features made this cottage kitchen feel claustrophobic, cramped, and depressing. It didn’t help that the small 9×9 footprint forced us even further into the corners. Although it wasn’t the most luxurious renovation, we turned this outdated kitchen into a well-organized space with a little creative planning and plenty of hard work. Not only do we have more functional countertops, cabinets, and drawers, but we also finally have a dishwasher! The durable and warm hard surface immediately impacted the space from dated to streamlined in just one weekend.
How To Install Sheet Vinyl Floor
Installing sheet vinyl can be one of the easiest ways to complete a room in your house. Vinyl is water-resistant, easy to clean, and it’s all sealed under the sheet. Sheet vinyl flooring usually comes with a sticky back that you pull off the backing and stick on like a big sticker. You use a utility knife to cut the pieces to fit around obstacles like light switches and garbage cans. There are many different variations of sheet vinyl, so it’s important to choose the flooring that will match your decor and lifestyle. I’m showing you how we installed a roll-out sheet vinyl floor in our bathroom in this post.
Plywood Faux Plank Flooring
Plywood Faux Plank Flooring combines the look of wood flooring with the cost-efficiency of engineered hardwood. It's pre-finished, making installation easy and mess-free. This uniquely designed flooring is made to look like reclaimed wood planks, giving your space a rustic, industrial look. Each sheet measures 48 "x96" and will provide a deep rich hardwood look to any room of your home. With edges pre-milled to match the length of each plank, installation is as simple as laying the sheets one at a time directly on planks below. Perfect for DIY wood flooring projects!
Painted Wood Floors
It might seem simple to slap on some paint, but there's a lot of maintenance involved with getting the right shade. Our flooring specialist had 15 color samples to choose from, and he helped us select the perfect shade. After taking his recommendations, we settled on a semi-gloss finish with low VOCs that's both easy to clean and hard-wearing. Plus, it has no odor, so we'll be able to move back in before the weekend is over!
